Prof. Dr. Eng. Emil Sashev Tsvetanov was born in 1974 in Lom. He graduated from the Technical University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (TMET) in Pleven in 1993 and then graduated from the University of Ruse ‘Angel Kanchev’ in 1993-1998, obtaining a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management. After successfully passing the Melioration exam in 2001, he was appointed as a Research Fellow in Grade III in the Technology Department of the Pleven IVV. In connection with the requirements of the ZRASRB, he developed a dissertation project on the basis of which he was assigned as a doctoral student of independent training at the Agricultural University of Plovdiv, Department of Melioration, Land Planning and Agrophysics. He has been a Doctor of Melioration since 2015, and in 2017 (following a competition) he was appointed to the academic post of Chief Assistant. In 2018 (after winning a competition), he was appointed to the academic position of ‘Docent’ in the scientific specialty ‘Wine-growing’. From 2019 to 2022, he was Head of the Technology and RD Department. In 2022, after winning a competition, he was appointed Director of the Pleven IVV and is still in that position.  

The scientific interests of Assoc. Tsvetanov is mainly concerned with various problems in the agrotechnics of the vine – irrigation regime, production of vine propagating material, maintenance of the soil surface in the vineyards. A major scientific topic in most of his publications treats the irrigation regime mainly in the rootstock, the importance of water for the development of the vines, micro-irrigation, evapotranspiration, raining, micro-raining, etc.

He is the author of over 72 scientific articles, 1 monograph and 1 brochure. He is a leader of 1 research project, participant in 1 international and 15 national. Scientific supervisor of 1 successfully defended thesis at TU-Varna. He has more than 20 citations of scientific works and has participated in more than 27 scientific forums, including 8 international ones.
