Delight

Names and synonyms:
Naslada
Origin and distribution:
The Naslada variety was created by interspecies hybridisation of Misket Hamburg x Save Villard 12 375 (Villard blanc) by V. Valchev and Y. Ivanov in 1969. It was recognised by the DSK and approved as a new and original variety by Order No 4/23.02.1976 of the MAFF. It is planted on larger areas, mainly around Pleven, but is found as single vines and small plantations throughout the country. It is included in the official varietal list of the Republic of Bulgaria – 2012. Vitis International Variety Catalogue (VIVC.de) is No 8356.
Botanical description:
It's a bud. Strong mossy, waxy yellow.
A young summer-racel. The crown is highly mossy, waxy yellow to golden yellow. Young leaves are slightly mossy, waxy yellow, with a light bronze hue. The shoot is slightly mossy, waxy yellow to light herbaceous green.
It's a mature summer tree. The internodes are medium long and medium thick. The rind is light brown, with darker knots and longitudinal stripes. Mustaches are short to medium-long, slightly branched, non-falling, woody. Winter eyes are medium-sized, conical, sharp.
It's a sheet. The paste is medium-sized (18.1/17.6 cm), slightly cut, triangular to petite, light green, on top glossy, smooth, naked to slightly bristly-fly on the underside. The upper side threads are open, shallow to medium deep, in the form of a sharp angle or lyrical, with parallel sides and a sharp bottom. The lower creases are open, shallow, in the form of a sharp angle, often barely noticeable. The tail cut is open, arched or lyrical, with a flat pointed bottom. The top and end teeth are medium-sized, straight, triangular with a wide base, dome-shaped. The veins are light yellow-green, convex, naked to slightly bristly-fossil on the underside. The handle is short to medium-long, naked, light green, sometimes with light red stripes. Autumn leaf coloring is yellow.
It's a bunch of grapes. Medium size (16.2/10.1 cm), conical, loose. The handle is medium-long, at the base woody, tough. The bead is green. The stem of the nipple is medium-long, with a large conical bed with warts. The average mass of a bunch is 260 g.
It's a nipple. Medium coarse (18.4/16.7 mm), oval. The skin is greenish-yellow to amber-yellow, thin, brittle, covered with a waxy coating. The consistency of the mesocarp is dense, juicy, melting. The taste is harmonious, with a pleasant faint muscat taste. In the nipple there are 2-3 seeds. The average mass of a grain is 4 g.
Agrobiological characteristic:
Delight is a late-ripening variety. Its grapes ripen in the second half of September. The duration of the period from budding to consumable maturity is about 155 days.
The vines are moderately to strongly growing, but by the end of the vegetation the shoots ripen completely. They are inclined to incline, which is why many coltuci are often formed on them. The fertility of the variety is high. When growing ground training Guyot with a load of 30 winter eyes per vine, the fruiting shoots are 82,00%, and the fertility rate 1.41. The yield per vine is 7.270 kg and per decare from 1 000 kg to 1 300 kg. It also yields enough on short pruning with dicks on 2 winter eyes. In stem cultivation with the application of a mixed pruning system, the fertility and yields increase. Delight has no tendency to blush and millerandazh. The vines are practically resistant to mildew (4-6 balls) and with increased resistance to powdery mildew (5-7 balls) and grey rot (5-7 balls). The variety is sensitive to phylloxera, but is more resistant to low winter temperatures (-23°/-26°C). Shows moderate dryness. The variety has a good affinity for the common in Bulgaria rootstocks Chasla x Berlandieri 41 B and Berlandieri x Riparia S0 4. The most suitable soils+soils for its cultivation for the production of table grapes are Carbonate and leached chernozems on loess and Cinnamon forests, leached, formed on limestone or marl, and for grape production for making fine, fresh, white dry wines – Colluvial (deluvial, proluvial and deluvial-proluvial soils, carbonate or non-carbonate).
Technological characteristic:
Delight is a dessert variety, but it is also used to produce white dry wines. The percentage of grains in the bunch is 97.46 %, , and on the bunches 2,54 %, . The skins in the grain structure are 5.32%, , seeds – 1,92%, and the mesocarp 92.76 %, . In technological maturity, the sugar content is between 18.0 %, -20,0 %, , for titratable acids 7,00-8,00 g/dm3. The transportability of the grapes is satisfactory, the grains withstand a pressure of 840 g and a detachment of 278 g. The theoretical rate of yield of the must is 90.40 %, . The wines of this variety are suitable for bottling and consumption 4-5 months after fermentation. They are characterized by a straw yellow colour, soft, harmonious, fresh and with a faint muscat aroma. They are distinguished by the following technological indicators: alcohol – 11.2 vol. %, , sugars – 0,87 g/dm3, sugar-free extract – 17,47 g/dm3, titratable acids – 6,99 g/dm3, volatile acids – 0,39 g/dm3, pH – 3,15, total phenols – 130 mg/dm3. Grapes can also be used to make juice.
Variations and Branches. They're not known.
General assessment of the variety. Due to the genetically determined resistance to diseases and its good technological characteristics, the Naslada variety deserves to be distributed in the country as a complementary vine variety for the production of grapes for fresh consumption for the domestic market and processing into juices and white, dry muscat wines. It represents a certain interest for personal farms and can be grown in areas with an altitude of more than 400 m. This variety in Bulgaria maintains a source gene fund in ILV-Pleven, AU-Plovdiv, IZS-Ruse, ABI-Sofia, OSS-Novo selo (Plovdiv district) and produces planting material.
