Origin and distribution

The Nayden variety was obtained by means of intra-species hybridisation from the crossing of the Danube x Mermaid 3 varieties in the Experimental Field of the Pleven Institute of Vine and Wine by Miroslav Ivanov, Ilian Simeonov and Anatoly Iliev. Approved by the IASAS in 2019 and patented by the Patent Office in 2023 with certificate number 11252. The variety is distributed in the Experimental Base of ILV-Pleven, a varietal testing area in Novo Selo, Plovdiv Province, and as single vines in backyard holdings.

Botanical description

Young summerrassal. The crown is naked, waxy yellow colored. The first and second sheets are golden yellow, top and bottom naked. The young summerrassal is green, naked.

Mature summerrassal. The internodes are medium thick, medium long, slightly flattened and slightly edged. The nodes are slightly bulging.

It's a sheet. The paste is large, medium-thick, chopped, petal, smooth, green. The upper surface is bare and the lower slightly bristly. The upper crests are very deep, closed, sometimes open, lyrical. The lower cuts are well expressed, closed. The tail-pearl is open, arrow-shaped. The upper teeth are medium-sized, with slightly protruding sides. Nervature has a weak relief, naked, light yellowish color.

It's a bunch of grapes. The grapes are large (19.2/17.2 cm), conical, loose to semi-concise. The handle is medium long, medium thick. The bead is green. The average mass of the bunch is about 800 g.

It's a nipple. The grain is coarse to very coarse (38.69/18.10 mm) with a drip-shaped (specific) and concave tip. The skin is dark violet, thin, brittle and covered with a fine waxy coating. The consistency is fleshy, crunchy, the taste is neutral, harmonious. The handle of the nipple is medium, with a medium bed. The brush is medium, pale green. The average mass per 100 grains is within 700-900 g.

Agrobiological characteristic

Nayden is a medium-ripening red dessert variety. For the region of Pleven, its grapes ripen in early September. The duration of the growing season is about 160-170 days. The vines of the Nayden variety have medium to strong growth, with good habitat and abundant foliage. The lettuce ripens well until the end of the growing season. In ground and stem cultivation, the variety has a very good fertility and yield, which by years are constant. In the region of Pleven, under stem cultivation and load with 22 winter eyes on a vine develop 83.50% from the winter eyes. Fruit shoots are 76.60%and the fertility rate 1.04. The theoretical yield per vine is 10.8 kg and per decare 2770 kg. Nayden variety is not prone to combing and Millerendage. It is distinguished by very good pollination and fertilization. The variety can be grown on the ground and stem forms improved Guyot, with a length of fruiting sticks from 14 to 16 eyes. In order to improve the quality of the grapes during the growing season, it is necessary to carry out green pruning operations, such as milling, thinning the bunches and removing some of the leaves around the bunches. Naiden develops and bears very well, grafted on the mat Berlandieri x Ripparia SO4. The variety is sensitive to mildew (5 bale) and low winter temperatures, but is relatively resistant to oidium and gray rot (3 bale).

Technological characteristic

By mechanical composition of the grape variety Nayden is a typical dessert. The percentage of grains in the bunch is 97.32%, and on the bunches 2.68 %. The skins in the nipples are 3.91%, the seeds 1.29%, and the mesocarp 94.80%. In consumable ripeness, the grapes of the Nayden variety contain 16-18% sugars and 3.5-4.5 g/dm³ titratable acidity. The grapes are suitable for fresh consumption and storage. It has very good transportability. After storage, it retains its appearance and taste qualities.
